Rear exhaust manifold: Removal - Refitting
V9X
a Tighten the following in order:
- the bolts on the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid
valve,
- the nuts on the turbocharger exhaust gas cooler,
- the exhaust gas cooler bolts on the back row rocker
cover.
a Connect the cooling hose at the exhaust gas recircu-
lation solenoid valve outlet.
a Refit the clip on the cooling hose at the exhaust gas
recirculation solenoid valve outlet using the (Mot.
1448).
a Connect:
- the fuel drain hose to the back row rocker cover,
- the vacuum hose to the exhaust gas cooler dia-
phragm control,
- the cooling hose at the inlet of the exhaust gas
cooler.
a Clip on the cooling hose at the inlet of the exhaust
gas cooler on the back row rail protector.
a Refit:
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D, Engine mounting, Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting, page
19D-51) ,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe (see 14A,
Antipollution, Exhaust gas recirculation rigid
pipe: Removal - Refitting, page 14A-62) ,
- the new catalytic pre-converter studs on the turbo-
charger, if they have been loosened during the re-
moval procedure.
a Torque tighten the catalytic pre-converter studs
on the turbocharger (21 N.m).
a Refit a new catalytic pre-converter seal on the turbo-
charger.
a Fit the catalytic pre-converter on the turbocharger.
a Torque tighten the studs of the turbocharger heat
shield, if they were loosened during the removal
operation (13 N.m).
a Refit the turbocharger heat shield.
a Fit the rigid cooling pipes of the exhaust fuel injector
cooler on the catalytic pre-converter and the turbo-
charger.
a Refit:
- the nut of the rigid cooling pipes of the exhaust fuel
injector cooler on the catalytic pre-converter,
- the catalytic pre-converter upper stay.
FUEL MIXTURE

a Without tightening, fit the nut of the catalytic pre-con-
verter upper stay.
a Refit the catalytic pre-converter lower stay.
a Without tightening, fit the nuts of the lower stay onto
the upper bracket.
a Torque tighten the studs of the catalytic pre-con-
verter stay on the cylinder block and on the gear-
box (8 N.m).
a Fit without tightening:
- the nuts of the lower stay on the cylinder block and
on the gearbox,
- the lower stay nuts on the catalytic pre-converter.
a Tighten to torque:
- the catalytic pre-converter upper stay nut (21
N.m),
- the nuts of the lower stay on the upper bracket
(21 N.m),
- the nuts of the lower stay on the cylinder block
and on the gearbox (21 N.m),
- the lower stay nuts on the catalytic pre-convert-
er (21 N.m).
a Clip the crankshaft position sensor wiring on to the
catalytic pre-converter stay.
a Refit:
- the lower engine tie-bars (see 1 9 D, Engine
mounting, Lower engine tie-bar: Removal - Re-
fitting, page 19D-85) ,
- the nut of the rigid cooling pipe on the turbocharg-
er.
a Torque tighten the turbocharger heat shield nuts
(8 N.m).
a Connect the cooling hose onto the rigid cooling pipe
of the turbocharger.
a Fit the turbocharger cooling hose clip using the
(Mot. 1448).
a Refit:
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
Refitting) (55A, Exterior protection),
- the front wheel arch liners (see Front wheel arch
liner: Removal - Refitting) (55A, Exterior protec-
tion),
- the front wheels (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting)
(35A, Wheels and tyres),
- the engine undertray,
- the air filter unit (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Air filter
unit: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-13) .
