Crankshaft seal, gearbox end: Removal - Refitting

- the oil level sensor (see 10A, Engine and cylinder
block assembly, Oil level sensor: Removal - Re-
fitting, page 10A-237) ,
- the drive plate (see 10A, Engine and cylinder

block assembly, Drive plate: Removal - Refit-

ting, page 10A-287) ,

- the cylinder block base plate (see Cylinder block
base plate: Removal - Refitting) .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove:
- the bolts on the support of the crankshaft seal on
the gearbox side,
- the "crankshaft seal support on the gearbox side -
crankshaft seal on the gearbox side" assembly.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Always replace the "crankshaft seal support on the
gearbox side - crankshaft seal on the gearbox side"
assembly.
WARNING
Do not scrape the joint faces of the aluminium,
any damage caused to the joint face will result in
a risk of leaks.
a Use SUPER CLEANING AGENT FOR JOINT FA-
CES (see Vehicle: Parts and consumables for
the repair) (04B, Consumables - Products) to clean
the joint faces:
- of the crankshaft seal support on the gearbox side,
- of the cylinder block.
a Remove the residue using a plastic spatula.
a Finish cleaning the joint faces using a GREY ABRA-
SIVE PAD part number 77 01 405 943.
WARNING
The joint faces must be clean, dry and free from
grease (avoid finger marks).
a Use a SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) to clean the joint faces:
- of the crankshaft seal support on the gearbox side,
- of the cylinder block,
