Oil-coolant heat exchanger: Removal - Refitting

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove:
- the bolts (2) from the oil-water heat exchanger,
- the oil-coolant heat exchanger,
- the oil-coolant heat exchanger seal.
Note:
Watch out for the outflow of engine oil.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) to clean and degrease:
- the oil-coolant heat exchanger seal face if it is to be
reused,
- the cylinder block gasket face.
WARNING
T o ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).
a parts always to be replaced: coolant-engine oil
heat exchanger seal on the cylinder block (10,05,
05,12).
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- a new seal to the oil-water heat exchanger,
- the oil-water heat exchanger.
a Torque tighten the oil-water heat exchanger bolts
(32 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Connect the oil-water heat exchanger cooling hos-
es.
a Fit the cooling hose clips on the oil-water heat ex-
changer using the tool (Mot. 1448).
a Remove the tool (Ms. 583) from the oil-water heat
exchanger cooling hoses.
a Perform the following operations:
- bleed the cooling circuit (see 19A, Cooling, Cool-
ing system: Draining - Refilling, page 19A-16) ,

- top up the engine oil.
Note:
Lubricate the seal of the engine oil filler cap
before refitting it.
a Refit the engine undertray.
WARNING
Always check the oil level using the dipstick.
Do not exceed the maximum level on the dipstick
(could destroy the engine).
Correct the engine oil level if necessary before
delivering the vehicle to the customer.
