Turbocharger: Removal - Refitting
K9K, and 780
- the exhaust manifold on the turbocharger.
a Next, degrease these bearing faces using SUR-
FACE CLEANER and CLEAN CLOTHS (see Vehi-
cle: Parts and consumables for the repair) (04B,
Consumables - Products).
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Torque tighten
- the new studs of the turbocharger on the mani-
fold, manifold side (9 N.m),
- the new stud of the turbocharger on the mani-
fold, turbocharger side (9 N.m).
a Refit:
- the turbocharger seal on the exhaust manifold,
- the turbocharger,
- the turbocharger lower nut.
a Use an open-jawed spanner to fit the turbocharger
lower nut without tightening it (the turbocharger must
be in contact with the manifold and the spanner
should no longer turn without effort).
a Put a paint mark on the turbocharger coinciding with
a lower nut crest of the turbocharger.
a Tighten the lower nut of the turbocharger until the
next nut crest coincides with the paint mark made on
the turbocharger (the angle achieved corresponds to
60˚).
a Torque tighten the other two nuts of the turbo-
charger (28 N.m).
a Connect the pressure regulator valve hose on the
pressure regulator valve side.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
- the turbocharger oil return pipe (see 12B, Turbo-
charging, Turbocharger oil pipe: Removal - Re-
fitting, page 12B-35) ,
- the catalytic converter (see 19B, Exhaust, Cata-
lytic converter: Removal - Refitting, page 19B-
32) .
a Refit:
- the turbocharger oil supply pipe (see 12B, Turbo-
charging, Turbocharger oil pipe: Removal - Re-
fitting, page 12B-35) ,
TURBOCHARGING

- the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve (see
14A, Antipollution, Exhaust gas recirculation
solenoid valve: Removal - Refitting, page 14A-
11) .
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
Oil repriming procedure
a Disconnect the connector of the crankshaft position
sensor (6) , on the gearbox.
a Run the starter motor until the oil warning light goes
out (do this for a few seconds).
a Switch off the ignition.
a Connect the crankshaft position sensor.
a Start the engine.
a Let the engine idle then depress the accelerator sev-
eral times with no load.
a Switch off the ignition.
a Check:
- that the turbocharger is operating correctly,
- that there are no oil leaks from the turbocharger.
a Connect the Diagnostic tool and deal with any
present fault(s).
a Refit:
- the engine undertray.
- the engine undertray bolts.
