ENGINE AND CYLINDER BLOCK ASSEMBLY
Engine - gearbox assembly: Removal - Refitting

a Lift the vehicle to remove the "engine and gearbox"
assembly.
Note:
Check no component obstructs the movement of
the body around the engine - gearbox assembly.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a For standard replacement (see Engine: Standard
replacement) (Technical Note 6020A, 10A, Engine
and peripherals).
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Position the "engine and gearbox" assembly in the
body.
a Refit:
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D, Engine mounting, Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting, page
19D-51) ,
- the left-hand suspended engine mounting rubber
pad,
- the nuts for the left-hand suspended engine mount-
ing rubber pad,
- the left-hand suspended engine mounting rubber
pad central nut.
a Torque tighten:
- the left-hand suspended engine mounting rub-
ber pad central nut (62 N.m),
- the left-hand suspended engine mounting rub-
ber pad nuts (105 N.m).
a Remove the tool (Mot. 1390).
a Refit the engine tie-bar.
a Torque tighten the engine tie-bar bolts (190 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit the bolt for the wiring bracket of the power-as-
sisted steering pump on the gearbox.
a Refit:
- the new exhaust flange seal,
- the exhaust flange springs.
a Torque tighten the exhaust flange bolts (21 N.m).

a Connect:
- the coolant pipe between the thermostat unit and
the cooling radiator on the thermostat unit,
- the coolant pipe on the multifunction support,
- the coolant pipes between the water chamber and
the heater matrix on the water chamber,
- the coolant pipe between the water chamber and
the cooling radiator on the water chamber.
a Using the (Mot. 1448), fit:
- the coolant pipe clip between the thermostat unit
and the cooling radiator on the thermostat unit,
- the coolant pipe clip on the multifunction support,
- the coolant pipe clip between the water chamber
and the heater matrix on the water chamber,
- the coolant pipe clip between the water chamber
and the cooling radiator on the water chamber.
a Fit the engine wiring.
a Connect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
a Refit the crankshaft position sensor protector.
a Connect the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
a Clip the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
a Fit:
- the heat shield behind the right-hand side under-
body protector,
- the right-hand side underbody protector.
