Rear exhaust manifold: Removal - Refitting

- the nuts between the turbocharger and the catalytic
pre-converter,
- the catalytic pre-converter stay studs,
- the clip between the turbocharger and the rear ex-
haust manifold,
- the nuts on the turbocharger exhaust gas cooler,
- the studs on the turbocharger exhaust gas cooler,
if they were loosened during the removal operation,
- the turbocharger heat shield nuts,
- the studs on the heat shield of the turbocharger, if
they were loosened during the removal operation.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) to clean and degrease:
- the cylinder head joint face,
- the exhaust manifold joint faces if they are being
reused,
- the turbocharger joint faces,
- the exhaust gas cooler joint face.
a Refit new exhaust manifold studs, if they were loos-
ened during the removal operation.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- a new rear exhaust manifold seal,
- a new clip on the turbocharger rear exhaust mani-
fold,
- a new seal between the rear exhaust manifold and
the turbocharger,
- the rear exhaust manifold starting with the turbo-
charger then the cylinder head.
a Without tightening, fit the rear exhaust manifold onto
the turbocharger.
a Refit the rear exhaust manifold spacers.
a Without tightening, fit the new rear exhaust manifold
nuts.
FUEL MIXTURE

a Torque tighten in order the:
- rear exhaust manifold nuts (initial torque) (18
N.m),
- rear exhaust manifold nuts (torque) (32 N.m).
a Torque tighten the rear exhaust manifold clip (9
N.m).
a Refit the rear exhaust manifold heat shield.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit new studs on the turbocharger exhaust gas
cooler, if they were loosened during the removal op-
eration.
a Fit the « exhaust gas cooler - exhaust gas recircula-
tion solenoid valve » assembly.
a Connect the cooler hose at the exhaust fuel injector
cooler inlet.
a Fit the clip on the cooler hose at the exhaust fuel in-
jector cooler inlet using the (Mot. 1448).
a Refit:
- a new seal between the exhaust gas cooler and the
turbocharger,
- the « exhaust gas cooler - exhaust gas recircula-
tion solenoid valve » assembly.
a Fit without tightening:
- the new nuts on the turbocharger exhaust gas cool-
er,
- the exhaust gas cooler bolts on the back row rocker
cover,
- the bolts to the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid
valve.
