Turbocharger: Removal - Refitting
M9R, and 800 or 802 or 805 or 806 or 808 or 809 or 816 or 845 or 849
- parts always to be replaced: Turbocharger oil
return pipe (10,09,03,02),
- parts always to be replaced: seal between ex-
haust manifold and turbocharger (10,09,01,07),
- parts always to be replaced: turbocharger rigid
cooling pipe seal (10,09,01,09),
- parts always to be replaced: seal between tur-
bocharger and catalytic converter (10,09,01,08),
- parts always to be replaced: exhaust manifold
stud on the turbocharger (if loosened) (10,09,
01,11),
- parts always to be replaced: catalytic converter
stud on the turbocharger (if loosened) (10,09,
01,04)
a Parts always to be replaced:
- the turbocharger oil pipes and their seals,
- the turbocharger seal,
- the turbocharger rigid cooling pipe seal if the turbo-
charger is to be replaced,
- the catalytic pre-converter seal,
- the exhaust manifold stud,
- the turbocharger studs, if the turbocharger is being
reused.
1 - Refitting preparation operation if the
turbocharger is to be replaced:
a Refit:
- a new seal on the turbocharger rigid cooling pipes,
- the turbocharger rigid cooling pipes.
a Torque tighten the bolts of the turbocharger rigid
cooling pipe strut (10 N.m).
2 - Refitting preparation operation if the
turbocharger is to be re-used:
a Torque tighten the turbocharger studs (15 N.m)
using a roller-type stud removal tool or using the
stud recesses.
3 - Refitting preparation operation for all methods
a Torque tighten the exhaust manifold stud (9 N.m)
using a roller-type stud removal tool.

a Remove the intercooler air inlet pipe seal on the tur-
bocharger side using a tweezers.

Note:
Check that the seal of the intercooler air inlet
pipe on the turbocharger side is fitted the correct
way round.
a Fit a new seal to the intercooler air inlet pipe on the
turbocharger side.
