TOP AND FRONT OF ENGINE
Pressure at end of compression: Check

a Connect the diesel compression gauge (3) to the
tool (Mot. 1772).
a Open the discharge valve (4) of the diesel com-
pression gauge to release the pressure.
a Close the discharge valve (4) of the diesel com-
pression gauge.
a Run command with Diagnostic tool :
- RZ009: VEHICLE FUNCTION PROGRAMMING,
- VP036: FUEL SUPPLY INHIBITION.
a Put the vehicle in the engine starting condition:
- gear lever in neutral for a manual gearbox,
- brake pedal applied.
II - TEST OPERATION
a Connect a self-contained starter or an automatic
battery charger.
Note:
The engine will be under the action of the starter
motor for 20 s, without starting.
a Press the vehicle start button to carry out an engine
starting phase.
Note:
A minimum period of 10 s must be observed
between each starting phase (the starter will not
start as it is in thermal protection mode).
a Open the discharge valve to release all of the pres-
sure in the diesel compression gauge.
a Make progress with the diagram sheet.
a Take the same measurement for the other cylinders.
a Compare the results obtained.
III - FINAL OPERATION.
a Remove:
- the diesel compression gauge,
- the hose end piece (Mot. 1772).
a Refit:
- the heater plugs (see 13C, Preheating, Heater
plugs: Removal - Refitting, page 13C-3) ,
- the engine cover.
a Perform the command VP037: STOP FUEL SUP-
PLY INHIBITION using the Diagnostic tool.

Note:
If the engine does not start, run command
VP037: STOP FUEL SUPPLY INHIBITION using
the Diagnostic tool or switch off the ignition and
wait 3 minutes before starting the engine again.
