Cylinder head: Removal - Refitting

a Clean the gasket faces of the inner timing cover and
cylinder heads on the inner timing cover using SU-
PER CLEANING AGENT FOR JOINT FACES (see
Vehicle: Parts and consumables for the repair)
(04B, Consumables - Products).
WARNING
Do not scrape the joint faces of the aluminium,
any damage caused to the joint face will result in
a risk of leaks.
a Remove the residue using a plastic spatula.
a Finish cleaning the gasket faces using a GREY
ABRASIVE PAD, part number 77 01 405 943.
WARNING
T o ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).
a Degrease the gasket faces of the inner timing cover
and cylinder heads on the inner timing cover using
SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts and
consumables for the repair) (04B, Consumables -
Products) and clean cloths.
a Apply beads of SILICONE ADHESIVE SEALANT
(see Vehicle: Parts and consumables for the re-
pair) (04B, Consumables - Products) with a width of
2.6 to 3.6 mm to the inner timing cover.
a Identify the cylinder head gaskets (see Cylinder
head: Check) .
a Refit new cylinder head gaskets.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART

a Refit the cylinder heads equipped with new O-rings
