• During acceleration, the forward clutch is applied and
connects the front planetary gear to the internal gear
through the one-way clutch (3-4). Power is transmitted
from the input shaft to the rear sun gear, turning the rear
planetary carrier (i.e. front internal gear).
Also, since the band brake is applied and the front sun gear
is locked, the rear internal gear turns normally through the
front planetary carrier and the forward clutch and one-way
clutch (3-4) that are connected to that carrier. Thus, speed

• Since the rear internal gear turns normally while coasting,
the one-way clutch (3-4) is released and idles. Accordi ngly,
reverse power is not transmitted to the engine and engine
braking is not provided.
• During deceleration at "2" or "1 st hold" range, the over-
running clutch operates to check idling of the one-way
clutch (3-4). Reverse power is transmitted to the engine,
providing engine braking action.
