EXTERIOR REFINISHING
n
Apply a high-build primer surfacer on the panel
according to the instructions printed on the
container.
Block sand the panel and apply a second appli-
cation of primer surfacer.
Apply the top coat.
REFINISHING MOLDINGS AND WHEELS
WARNING: Ensure that there is adequate venti-
lation and avoid breathing the vapor or spray
mist. The use of a fresh-air supplied respirator
is recommended. Wear the respirator for the
entire time of spraying and until all vapor and
mist have dissipated.
Exterior Reveal Moldings (Anodized Or Non-
Anodized Aluminum)
Remove the existing paint (to bare metal) from
the moldings with chemical stripper.
Apply Alumiprep 33 (Ditzler DX-533) to the
moldings according to the manufacture's
instructions.
Apply Alodine 1201 (Ditzler DX-503) to the
moldings according to the manufacture's
instructions.
Apply Ditzler DP 40/401 Epoxy Chromate Pri-
mer to the moldings.
Apply a semi-gloss black top coat on the
moldings.
Slightly scuff moldings with a scratch pad or
400 grit wet or dry sand paper to enhance
adhesion.
Apply wax and grease remover (e.g.,Ditzler DX-
330 or Sikkens M-600) to clean the moldings.
Apply an acid etching wash primer (e.g., Sik-
kens Wash Primer).
NOTE: Acid etching wash primers provide s u -
perior adhesion and also eliminates the metal
prep step.
Apply a semi-gloss black top coat on the
molding.
Aluminum Wheels
Remove the coating from the wheel with a
chemical stripper.
Apply Alumiprep 33 (Ditzler DX-533) to the
wheel.
Apply Alodine 1001 (Ditzler DX-501) to the
wheel.
NOTE: Apply Alodine 1001 to a wheel that will
be color coated as well as one that wilt be
clearcoated only.
Apply Ditzler DP-40/401 Epoxy Chromate Pri-
mer to the surface areas that will be color
coated.
Apply the color coat, if applicable, to the wheel.
Apply Ditzler DAU75 Urethane Clearcoat to the
wheel.
NOTE: Coat the entire wheel, including the out-
er edge.
