TRAMMEL GAUGE — DIAGNOSIS

sis, but can be used for longitudinal and diago-
nal measurements during a straightening oper-
ation. Using the trammel gauge, c r o s s
measurment will indicate the amount of bow or
side sway. Measuring the length indicate any
smash or sag.
CHECKING BY COMPARING PARALLEL
LENGTHS AND DIAGONAL LENGTHS
This is a comparative check between body or
frame sections that are parallel or diagonal. The
diagonals must be checked and compared as
well as the parallels to ensure alignment
accuracy.
HOW TO USE THE TRAMMEL GAUGE
Place the vehicle on a two post hoist.
Insert the straight pointer with the stepped tip
into one of the floor frame jigging holes.
NOTE: For the particle check in progress, select
the most suitable shape of pointer for the other
end of the gauge.
Keep the trammel gauge as parallel to the vehi-
cle frame as possible and use the shortest
pointers possible for each check.
