2.26 Multifunctional indicator unit of tractors with dashboard with molded
panel

2.26.1 General information

Multifunctional indicator unit 5 (figure 2.24.1) (further – MIU) and programming console
(further PC) of multifunctional indicator unit 7 display the information about operation parameters
of tractor systems and components and provide data to the operator about failures or break-
downs of some system.
MIU consists of indicators and annunciator-lamps, according to figure 2.26.1:
1 – speed indicator (needle indicator);
2 – engine speed indicator (needle indicator);
3 – PTO speed indicator (light indicator);
3.1, 3.5 – PTO speed scale sectors (yellow color);
3.2, 3.3, 3.4 – PTO speed scale sectors (green color);
4.1, 4.2– annunciators of PTO speed scale ranges (yellow color);
5 – pilot lamp-indicator of headlights upper beam switch (blue color);
6 – pilot lamp-indicator of trailer turn indicator switch (green color);
7 – pilot lamp-indicator of tractor turn indicator switch (green color);
8 – pilot lamp-annunciator of parking light switch (red color);
9 – pilot lamp-annunciator of on-board network overvoltage (red color);
10– multifunctional indicator.
2.26.2 Operation principle and assignment of indicators of multifunctional indica-
tor unit
а) 1 (figure 2.26.1) – speed indicator – shows calculated speed of tractor travel on
needle indicator. Calculated speed is higher than actual, because tractor skidding is not
taken into account.
The indicator works from the signals from pulse sensors of tractor left and right rear
wheels final drive gears rotation frequency. Speed indications are carried out by a signal
from the sensor mounted on the gear of wheel final drive, rotating at a lower frequency.
In case of one of speed sensors malfunction multifunctional indicator unit displays
speed indications of speed indicator by the signal of non-faulty sensor. On the LCD display
of MIU, a typical malfunction of circuits or speed sensors when there are no signals from
them is presented in the form of the digit "0" characterizing the location of the malfunction -
left or right (see below).
b) 2 (figure 2.26.1) – engine speed indicator, displays engine crankshaft speed on
needle indicator.
