6.4.5.9 Operation 56. Greasing of front wheel hub bearings
Note – The operation shall be performed only on tractor BELARUS-80.1. If using
grease MS-1000 TU 0254-003-45540231-99, the operation shall be performed every 2000
hours of tractor operation.
Before greasing the front wheel hubs, place the tractor on a flat horizontal platform.
The engine shall be shut down. Apply the parking brake and put wheel chocks in front of
and behind the rear wheels to avoid spontaneous movement of the tractor;
To lubricate the front wheel hub bearings, proceed as follows:
- raise the front axle until the wheels are off the ground and mount a support under
the front axle;
- remove the wheel;
- unscrew bolts 5 (figure 6.4.47), remove cap 3 and gasket 6;
- remove split pin 1, castellated nut 2, ring 4, outer bearing 8 and the hub assembly;
- remove the race of inner bearing 9 from the axle shaft;
- rinse all parts in diesel fuel;
- in presence of wear or damage to the bearings and seals, replace them with new
ones;
- assemble all removed parts in the reverse order of disassembly;
- fill the space between bearings 8 and 9 inside the hub with grease to half the vol-
ume;
- tighten castellated nut 2 with a torque of 90 to 110 N  m. Loosen the nut until the
slot coincides with the hole in the axle and secure the nut with a split pin;
- fill the inner cavity of cap 3 with grease to half the volume;
Repeat the listed operations for the other wheel.
