In neutral position of GB control lever 9 extreme positions of its free swinging in
transverse plane is determined by limit stop of shaft 2 flattened surface edges into spring-
loaded ball 3. These two positions of GB control lever 9 correspond to: to the right from
yourself - position of gear lever 4 in the slider slot of fork of the 3
left towards yourself – position of gear lever 4 in the slider slot of fork of the 4
gears 12 (this is correspondingly, two middle positions of GB control lever 9).
To move gear lever 4 into position "pocket" of range speed reduction unit carrier 13,
the operator has to shift GB control lever 9 from neutral position into the right most from
yourself position, and to shift gear lever 4 into position of 1
fork slider – from neutral position to the left most towards yourself position. In both cases
the operator will have to apply lateral force to compress spring of ball 3. Having overcome
the force of the compressed spring, ball 3 will rise upwards, and shaft 2 with gear lever 4
will move against the stop to the corresponding edge of limiting plate 14 (figure 3.3.1), thus
being in the position of the corresponding slider.
GB control cover 15 is equipped with sensor 13, which ensures engine start block-
ing with engaged gear in GB.
ATTENTION: ADJUSTING OF SWITCH 13 (FIGURE 3.3.1) SHALL BE CARRIED
OUT BY MEANS OF INSTALLATION OF NECESSARY QUANTITY OF ADJUSTING
SHIMS 12. IF ADJUSTMENT CANNOT BE ACHIEVED BY SET OF SHIMS, THAN IT IS
NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE SWITCH AND TO READJUST!

3.3.2.3 Gearbox operation

The GB 9F/2R design provides for 4 forward movement gears and one reverse
movement gear, the engagement of each of them is possible on both stages of range
speed reduction unit, and for one direct gear of forward movement, and when it is en-
gaged, primary 34a (figure 3.3.1) and secondary 6 shafts engage grippingly by drive gear
rd
th
of the 3
and 6
gears 5, which in this case performs the function of gear coupling. On di-
rect gear GB gears do not participate in power flow transformation.
If the tractor is equipped with reverse-reduction gear (figure 3.3.4) (GB versions
9R/9F), than there is no reverse movement gear in GB. Tractor reverse movement is car-
ried out by means of reverse-reduction gear actuation.
Engagement of GB gears and ranges is carried out by one GB control lever 9 (fig-
ure 3.3.2) in accordance with the diagram. GB gear selection is preceded by selection of
the required speed reduction unit range.
Gears and ranges switching is carried out only on a stopped tractor.
To select and engage range of the speed reduction unit the operator shifts gear
shifting lever 9 from neutral position in the position of the range speed reduction unit. Fur-
ther, to engage the 1
lever 9 backwards. In this case gear lever 4, by action on speed reduction unit slider 13,
shifts it and connected to it roller 11 (figure 3.3.1) with fork 9 forward. Drive gear of the 1
stage of speed reduction unit 24 shifts along the splines of intermediate shaft 32 and en-
gages with driven gear 6 of the 1
To engage the 2
lever 9 (figure 3.3.2) in position of range speed reduction unit forward. In this case lever 4,
by action on the speed reduction unit carrier 13, shifts it and connected to it roller 11 (fig-
ure 3.3.1) with fork 9 backwards. Drive gear of the 1
by fork 9, moves along the splines of intermediate shaft 32 and engages with inner gear
ring of drive gear of the 2
shaft 32. Gear 23 is in constant mesh with driven gear of the 2
duction unit 18.
