When using position control method draft control automatically maintains the set
position of the agricultural implement relative to the tractor frame. Use of position control
for soil cultivation with mounted ploughs, tillers for overall and inter-row cultivation of soil,
as well as for deep cultivation is recommended in the conditions of smooth field relief.
On wide-cut machines, coupled with tractors, when working in the position control
mode, supporting wheels should be used in order to avoid transverse wracking of agricul-
tural machines, to improve directness of the implement and to create better conditions for
contour following in transverse (relative to tractor travel) direction.
When preparing the implement for operation with the use of position control method
proceed as follows:
- mount upper link 2 (figure 2.17.2) of the mounted implement on the upper hole of
clevis 1 (position "A" in figure 2.17.2);
- connect the mounted implement (machine) with the tractor RLL;
- if required, adjust the RLL and mounted implement.
- switch on position control method, to do this raise mounted implement (machine)
in the upper most position and get switch 4 into the groove of position lever 6 by turning
the switch to the right (along the tractor) into position "I". To facilitate switching before get-
ting into the groove shift switch forward (along tractor travel) until it is aligned with the
groove on lever 6;
- turn handwheel of correction speed 3 anticlockwise until it stops, setting maximum
lifting rate for automatic position correction.
At the start of the run of cultivated land set the implement in the desired position.
Lowering is done by shifting handle 2 (figure 2.17.1) forward. The further forward the han-
dle is set, the lower the implement will be brought down. After setting the implement in the
desired depth position shift stroke limiter 1 until it stops against the handle and lock it.
At the end of the run of cultivated land to lift the implement in transport position turn
handle 2 towards yourself until it stops. After lifting the handle has to automatically return
to neutral position "N".
At the start of each next run lower the implement by shifting handle 2 forward until it
stops against stroke limiter 1.
Depth control can be used when coupling tractor with mounted implements with
supporting wheels. It lies in the fact that the specified cultivation depth is achieved by set-
ting the support wheel of coupled implement at a certain height.
For depth control set switch 4 (figure 2.17.2) to middle position N, after raising
the RLL in the upper most position. To raise the implement turn handle 2 (figure 2.17.1)
towards yourself until it stops and hold it until the end of raising, whereafter the handle has
to automatically return to neutral position "N". Lowering is done by shifting handle 2 for-
ward in the control area until the implement starts moving down.
Upper link 2 (figure 2.17.2) of the mounted implement shall be mounted on the low-
er hole of clevis 1 (position "B" in figure 2.17.2);
When using depth control method, if mounted implement is attached to the RLL, it is
forbidden to set handle 2 into position "positive lowering" (forward until it stops). Use posi-
tion "positive lowering" only when attaching the implement to the tractor lift linkage. For
positive lowering turn handle 2 in the forward most position. After releasing it has to return
to the control area (intermediate neutral), and RLL lowering has to stop.
Note – When the distributors Р80-3/1-222, РП70-890.1 (without draft control) are in-
stalled RLL control is done by handle of the distributor. The control rules of the RLL with the dis-
tributors Р80-3/1-222, РП70-890.1 are given in subsection 2.16.3.1.
