Maintaining the adequate internal pressure in the tyres effects significantly the grip-
ping features, passing ability and tyre life. Reduction of internal tyre pressure promotes ex-
tension of contact area on the tyre with ground, reduction of the tractor ground pressure,
and improvement of gripping features. Therefore, when the tractor is operated on mellow
soils with low supporting capacity it is recommended to reduce tyre pressure down to the
minimum value permissible for such load. Noncompliance with pressure rates reduces tyre
life significantly.
Use of tyre standard sizes unspecified by the manufacturer and operation of the
chassis with overload caused by excess of maximum bearing capacity of the tyres and
tractor axles (at given pressure and speed) can result in failure and damage not only to the
chassis (tyre carcass rupture, etc.), but also to other tractor units, or can cause accidents
and the overall tractor operating life reduction.
Constantly check the tyre pressure and adjust it if necessary with regard to specific
load and selected travel speed.
Permissible loads on the tractor tyres and internal air pressure values correspond-
ing to them depending on the travel speed are specified in subsection 4.2.8 "Selecting of
optimal inner pressure in tyres depending on operational conditions and load on tractor ax-
les, instructions for use of tyres."
In the specified case of the tractor application, exact amount of load that falls on the
front and rear wheels shall be determined according to section 5.9 "Determination of total
weight, loads on front and rear axles, tyres holding capacity and the required minimum bal-
last."
Change of rated load on tyre depending on the speed is applied in cases when the
tyre is not operated for a long time with high torque. Tabular figures on the loads at the
speed of 30 km/h shall be applied for field work and other conditions of long-term opera-
tion with high torque value.

5.7.9 Application of rear axle differential lock

The tractor rear axle differential provides means for rotation of driving wheels with
different frequencies, which is necessary for moving along a curvilinear path and on a
rough road, when right and left rear driving wheels travel over different distance for the
same time.
Disadvantage of differential is that it dispenses the torque on the wheels in inverse
proportion to tyres' grip on the road. If one wheel lands on the area with small adhesion
coefficient (for example, on ice), the wheel will slide and rotate with high frequency, while
the other wheel will rotate slowly. Tractor will move at a very low speed. To exclude this
disadvantage, the differential lock (excluding from the operation) is provided in positive
mode.
Tractor operation with differential locked on a firm and dry surface results in in-
creased loads of transmission and chassis components, and impedes maneuvering.
THE TRACTOR MUST NOT BE OPERATED WITH REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL
LOCK ENGAGED WHEN THE DRIVING SPEED EXCEEDS 13 KM/H!
THE TRACTOR MUST NOT BE OPERATED ON HARD-SURFACE ROADS WITH
CONSTANTLY ENGAGED REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK!
