4.3.2 Fire safety measures

The tractor shall be equipped with firefighting equipment, i.e. a shovel and a fire ex-
tinguisher (to be provided by the consumer). It is prohibited to operate the tractor without
firefighting equipment.
Never fuel the tractor with the engine running.
Do not smoke when fueling in the tractor.
Do not fuel the tank to the max. Leave some of the tank volume for fuel to expand.
Never add petrol or mixtures to diesel fuel. This combination may create increased
danger of inflammation or explosion.
Places for tractor parking, storing of fuel and lubricants shall have a ploughed
around band of not less than 3 m width and also shall be provided with fire extinguishing
means.
Fuel and lubricate the tractor in a mechanized way with the engine stopped. Use lighting
during nighttime. It is not recommended to use buckets for filling the fuel tanks. If carrying out
repair works in the field with use of electric gas welding, clean the parts and assembly units from
plant debris.
Prevent the manifold and muffler from getting dirty with fuel, thatch, etc.
Avoid thatch winding around rotating parts of the implements coupled with the trac-
tor.
When rinsing parts and assembly units with kerosene, gasoline or diesel fuel, take
measures to exclude a possibility of inflammation of flushing fluid vapor.
Do not operate the tractor in places subjected to fire risk with the hood off and pro-
tective devices removed from the engine's heated parts.
Do not use open fire to warm up oil in the engine sump, to fill in fuel tanks or to burn
out dirt in radiator core.
In case a fire occurs, pour some sand onto it, cover with tarpaulin, sackcloth or oth-
er dense texture. Use a CO2 fire extinguisher. Do not pour water over burning fuel and oil.
Make sure there are no flammable materials near the exhaust manifold and the
muffler during engine running.
When harvesting hay and thatch, or operating at places with increased danger of
fire, avoid amassment of inflammable materials on a muffler guard and on linking gas
pipes.
During the daily maintenance you are to perform the following obligatory operations:
- inspect the condition of wiring, wire bundles in the engine compartment and in the
area of cab front wall, as well as the condition of visible parts for abrasion, melting or de-
struction of outer insulation. In the case the listed defects are discovered, repair the dam-
aged areas with adhesive insulating tape and eliminate the cause that has led to the insu-
lation faults;
- inspect the hydraulic components. In case there is condensation and leakage, it
shall be eliminated by tightening the threaded connections. Hoses and high-pressure hos-
es having cracks, cuts or damages must be replaced.
To avoid burning of the tractor wiring never use fuse cutouts for higher current rates
than those specified in subsection 2.18 "Electrical cut-out fuses and relays"
It is forbidden to install wire bridges and other current conductive elements made by
handicraft technique, to replace fuse cutouts.
Turn the battery "ground" switch off when your work with the tractor is finished.
