8. Tractor storage

8.1 General instructions

ATTENTION: RULES ON LONG-TERM STORAGE, PRESERVATION, REPRE-
SERVATION AND DEPRESERVATION OF THE ENGINE INSTALLED ON THE TRAC-
TOR ARE GIVEN IN THE ENGINE OPERATION MANUAL, WHICH YOU CAN PUR-
CHASE FROM YOUR DEALER! RULES ON INTER-SHIFT AND SHORT-TERM STOR-
AGE OF THE ENGINE INSTALLED ON THE TRACTOR, ARE GIVEN IN THIS SECTION
8 «TRACTOR STORAGE».
Tractors shall be stored according to requirements of GOST 7751-85 in the indoor
area or under a shed.
If indoors premises are not available, tractors may be stored on special outdoor
sites, with obligatory preservation, sealing and dismounting of components that require
ware-housing.
Put the tractors in the inter-shift storage, if their operation is interrupted for up to 10
days, short-term storage if duration of idle interval is from 10 days to 2 months, and long-
term storage if interruption of use lasts for over 2 months. Prepare the tractor for inter-shift
and short-term storage immediately after finishing work, and for long-term storage not later
than ten days after finishing work.

8.2 Requirements for inter-shift storage of tractors

The tractor may be stored on storage yards and inter-shift storage grounds or di-
rectly on work execution sites. The tractor shall be cleaned off dust and dirt. All openings
through which precipitation can ingress the tractor's inner cavities including the engine
shall be tightly closed with covers. Accumulator batteries shall be disengaged.

8.3 Requirements for short-term tractor storage

Put the tractor for storage as a complete unit without removing components and as-
sembly units from the tractor. Follow the instructions of subsection 8.2 "Requirements for
inter-shift storage of tractors".
Accumulator batteries shall be turned off. Electrolyte level and density shall conform
to the accumulator battery maintenance requirements listed in paragraph 6.4.3.2 of sub-
section 6.4.3 "Technical maintenance every 250 hours of operation." If tractors are stored
at low temperatures or for a period exceeding one month, the batteries shall be dismount-
ed and sent to a warehouse.

8.4 Requirements for outdoors long-term storage

Before placing a tractor for storage, check it for technical condition. The tractor shall
undergo a regular maintenance service.
Maintenance services when preparing tractor for long-term storage include:
- cleaning and washing;
- dismounting and preparing for storage of tractor components subject to storage in
specially equipped warehouses;
- sealing of openings (after removal of components), gaps and cavities from ingress
of moisture and dust;
- preservation of tractor and its components, restoration of damaged paintwork;
- putting the tractor on stands (plates);
- following the instructions of operation manual for engine 243-0000100OM (or
243С/245С-0000100 OM, if your tractor is equipped with engine 243С) as regards prepar-
ing the engine for long-term storage.
After operation the tractor shall be cleaned from dust, mud, oil leaks, vegetation and
other remainders. Components where water is not allowed (generators, relays, etc.) shall be
