8.5 Preservation

Preservation provides temporary anticorrosion protection for tractor assemblies and
systems from environmental exposure in the process of tractor transportation and storage.
Rules on preserving the engine and its systems, as well as the fuel tank, are given
in the engine operation manual 243-0000100 OM (or 243С/245С-0000100 OM, if your
tractor is equipped with engine 243С).
Other tractor surfaces subjected to preservation (besides the engine) shall be cleaned
from mechanical impurities, degreased and dried. It is required to cover unpainted inside and
outside galvanized surfaces, viewable assemblies of tractor with corrosion-proof oil RUST
BAN 397, SUMIDERA 397.
Protruding parts of the hydraulic cylinder rods shall be coated with protective grease
according to GOST 4366.
Preservation of units (neck of radiator and fuel tank, breathers, etc.) shall be carried out
by air-tight cases made of polyethylene film.
The applied materials provide protection of the tractor and of its assemblies for the pe-
riod of storage and transportation within one year.
Outside preservation of tractor and its assemblies shall be carried out by lubrication of
surfaces with a brush or by sputtering using a paint sprayer. Inside tractor preservation shall
be carried out by filling cavities with preservation mixture and the subsequent engine running.
During the tractor inter-shift, short-term and long-term storage, the enterprise that utiliz-
es the tractor shall be responsible for compliance with preservation methods and storage con-
ditions specified in GOST 7751-85. Inside tractor surface preservation shall be also carried out
with preservation grease КS-U according to TU RB 600125053.019-2004. When the tractor is
stored outside, viewable surfaces shall be preserved with grease "BELA-COR" of type "A" ac-
cording to TU RB 600125053-020-2004. Upon agreement with Minsk Tractor Works, other
preservation greases can be used.

8.6 Depreservation and represervation

Depreservation method shall be chosen depending on preservation materials to be
used. Surfaces under preservation shall be wiped with rags soaked in low-viscous oils, sol-
vents, or washed away with water-soluble detergents. Sealed assemblies shall be deprived of
insulation materials (film, paper). Inner surfaces under preservation do not need depreserva-
tion.
Tractor represervation shall be carried out in case preservation defects are detected
in the process of storage or upon expiration of protection life.

8.7 Putting tractor into operation after long-term storage

Perform depreservation of the engine according to the engine operation manual
243-0000100 OM (or 243С/245С-0000100 OM, if your tractor is equipped with engine
243С).
Remove grease from external surfaces under preservation. Dismount protective
polyethylene cases, covers, plugs, special accessories and mount the parts which were
removed earlier back in their places. Before mounting the parts, clean them off grease and
dust. Drain sediment out of all containers, fill them with operation fluids and if necessary,
top up to control level.
Lubricate all tractor mechanisms according to paragraph 3 of table 6.7.1 of this op-
eration manual. Carry out scheduled maintenance. Run the tractor in for 15-20 minutes.
Eliminate detected faults, if any.
