5.7.2 Ways of changing tractor grip characteristics and passability

There are the following ways of changing gripping features of BELARUS -
80.1/82.1/820:
- increase of tractor adhesion weight;
- increase of wheel tyre-soil adhesion.
To increase the adhesion weight of the tractor, the following options are available:
- use quick-detachable hitch ballast weight;
- fill tyres with water (solution);
To increase wheel tyre-soil adhesion, do the following:
- select optimal internal pressure in tyres, depending on the operating conditions
and load on tractor axles;
- apply rear axle differential lock;
- twin the rear wheels.
Contact your dealer to obtain information on the rules of rear wheel twinning and
operational limits of tractors with twinned wheels.

5.7.3 Use of mounted quick-detachable ballast

Factory-built quick- detachable hinged ballast weights are usually utilized for addi-
tional loading of the tractor front axle and providing a favourable distribution of the tractor
operational weight while working with various agricultural machines.

5.7.4 Pouring water (solution) into the tyres of the rear wheels to increase grip

Filling up the tyres with water (solution) is carried out for the purpose of increasing
the adhesive weight (increase in the tractor traction power). Filling the front tyres with wa-
ter (solution) is not provided by the tractor design.
ATTENTION: WITH THAT, THE LOAD ON A TYRE, WITH DEFINED INNER
PRESSURE, SHALL BE DECREASED ACCORDING TO THE WEIGHT OF FILLED IN
WATER!
ATTENTION: IN CONDITIONS OF SATISFACTORY AND SUFFICIENT TYRE
TRACTION TO THE GROUND, FILLING UP THE TYRES WITH LIQUID IS NOT REC-
OMMENDED BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION OVERLOAD!
ATTENTION: ADDITIONAL LOADING OF WHEELS BY FILLING TYRES UP WITH
WATER (SOLUTION) SHALL BE USED ONLY IN CASE WHEN THE TYRE TRACTION
TO THE GROUND IS INSUFFICIENT IN ADVERSE CONDITIONS (ON SANDY, WA-
TERLOGGED SOILS, ETC.). TYRES FILLED UP WITH LIQUID IMPAIR THE SMOOTH-
NESS OF TRACTOR TRAVEL AT A SPEED EXCEEDING 15 KM/H, AND IN CASE THE
TYRE RUNS INTO ANY OBSTACLE, CARCASS BREAK CAN HAPPEN!
ATTENTION: IT IS FORBIDDEN TO FILL IN THE TYRES WITH WATER (SOLU-
TION) FOR MORE THEN 75% OF THEIR VOLUME AS OVERSIZE AMOUNT OF LIQUID
CAN RESULT IN TYRES BREAK-DOWN (TYRE THREADS OR INNER TUBES)!
Use of water (solution) to fill the rear tyres increases significantly tyre stiffness, track
depth and compaction of soil. If it is essential to use water (solution), it is recommended to
fill in all tyres up to equal levels not exceeding 40%.
Water (solution) volume per one tyre for 40% and 75% fill are shown in table 5.7.1.
ATTENTION: FILLING IN THE TYRES WITH WATER (SOLUTION) FOR MORE
THAN 40% SHALL BE APPLIED AS THE LAST RESORT!
