3.5.3 External adjustment of brake straps

During operation carry out adjustment of the PTO brake straps if the above given
adjustment of backlash in the PTO strap brakes does not lead to elimination of the PTO
"slipping" (the margin for adjustment is selected (significant wear of brake strap linings)).
When assembling or repairing the rear PTO planetary reduction gear unit at the
manufacturing plant eccentric axle 3 (figure 3.5.1) is installed with flattened surface verti-
cally at the right and is fixed by lock plate 12 and bolt 13;
To adjust brake straps unscrew adjustment screws 11 five-seven turns, turn eccen-
tric axle 3 of the external adjustment mechanism by 180 degrees (flattened surface at the
left), fix with lock plate 12 and bolt 13. Carry out adjustment of backlashes in strap brakes
in accordance with subsection 3.5.2 "Adjustment of backlash in the PTO strap brakes".
If the malfunction cannot be eliminated, replace the PTO straps.
ATTENTION: THE OPERATION OF THE PTO STRAPS REPLACEMENT IS CAR-
RIED OUT ONLY BY THE DEALERS IN A SPECIAL SERVICE SHOP!

3.5.4 Rear PTO control

Mechanical control of rear PTO is installed on the tractor. Rear PTO control diagram
is shown in figure 3.5.2.
Lever 5 has two positions:
- "PTO engaged" – rear most position;
- "PTO disengaged" – front most position.
Lever 5 should be set and fixed in two extreme positions only under action of spring
