3.5 Rear power take-off shaft

3.5.1 General information

Rear PTO has double-speed continuous and ground-speed drives.
The continuous drive is carried out by means of shifting coupling 27, which con-
nects crown gear shaft 26 of the PTO planetary reduction gear unit with the GB gear.
PTO planetary reduction gear is located in the rear axle casing and consists of
crown gear 22, mounted on shaft 26, cover 15 with carrier 25 installed therein with three
planetary gears 23, mounted on axles 21 shaft 20, eсcentric axle 3, fixed axle 14 and sun
gear 24, which is installed on axles 21 which is connected by means of splines with actua-
tion drum 17, which together with brake strap 16 forms actuation belt brake. Carrier 25 is
made in one piece with brake drum 19 and together with brake strap 18, form release belt
brake. Carrier 25 is connected to shaft 20 by means of spline coupling.
Into inner spline boring of shaft 20 replaceable PTO shanks 10 are mounted, eight
or six splines (540 min
There is eccentric with lever 5 on axle 3 to carry out external adjustment of the backlash
in belt brakes by turning axle 3. Inside the rear axle casing control shaft 6 is installed, which is
connected by two adjustment screws 11 to levers 4 and 5.
PTO engaged, when brake strap 16 is tightened and brake strap 18 is released. In this
case actuation drum 17 and sun gear 24 connected to it are stopped. Rotation from crown gear
22 through planetary gears 23, running around stopped sun gear 24, is transmitted on carrier 25
and shaft 20 with replaceable PTO shank 10.
PTO is disengaged when brake strap 18 is tightened, and brake strap 16 is released. In
this case shaft 20 is stopped.
3.5.2 Adjustment of backlash in PTO strap brakes
ATTENTION: ADJUSTMENT OF BACKLASH IN PTO STRAP BRAKES IS CAR-
RIED OUT ONLY BY THE DEALERS IN A SPECIAL SERVICE SHOP!
Adjustment of backlash in PTO strap brakes should be carried out if PTO "spins".
Adjustment of PTO control mechanism should be carried out in the following se-
quence:
- set lever 6 (figure 3.5.2) to neutral position, aligning hole Г with the hole in the rear
axle casing, and secure with technological bolt M10x60 28 (figure 3.5.1) (hole Г in figure
3.5.2) corresponds to hole A in figure 3.5.1);
- having unscrewed five bolts, take off rear axle hatch cover 15 (figure 3.4.10) to ac-
cess adjustment screws 11 (figure 3.5.1);
- unlock and take off plate 7;
- in sequence screw adjustment screws 11 with a torque from 8 to 10 10 Nꞏm, then
unscrew every adjustment screw two turns, at that screw tight bolts in such a way, that the
heads of the adjustment screws would be located parallel to the longitudinal tractor axle
(for installation of the fixation plate 7);
- remove technological bolt M10x60;
- screw bolt 9 (figure 3.5.2), maintaining size Б, which is equal to 26
cure bolt 9 with nut;
- angular motion of lever 6 by action of spring 7 in both sides from the neutral posi-
tion shall make from 7 to 10 degrees.
- install adjustment screws 11 (figure 3.5.1), plate 7 and cotter pins
