5.9 Determination of total weight, loads on front and rear axles, tyres holding
capacity and the required minimum ballast
The amount of load on tractor axles in structure of MTU can be determined by direct
weighing on mechanical transport scales of a proper carrying capacity. Tractor weighing
on scales gives an opportunity to learn the accurate weight distribution of MTU masses
among axles of tractor of your configuration in different operating conditions: "main opera-
tion" and "transport". While determining of loads on tractor axles, it is required to consider
the weight of technological load, for example the weight of seeds, distributed by a seeder.
For determination of load on tractor front and rear axles by weighing on scales, place the
wheels of the axle to be measured on the weighing platform, and keep the wheels of the
other axle out of the weighing area on the same level with the platform.
The following formula is used for load determination:
, where:
Т is load, N;
M is weight, kg
g=9.8 is gravity acceleration. m/s
Calculation of load on front tractor axle
, where:
Т
is load on front tractor axle, N;
f
is the value of tractor operating weight with ballast (the unit installed), distrib-
uted on tractor front axle, kg;
g=9.8 is gravity acceleration, m/s
Calculation of load on the rear tractor axle
, where:
Т
is load on the rear tractor axle, N;
z
is the amount of tractor operating weight with the unit installed (ballast), dis-
tributed on tractor rear axle, kg.
g=9.8 is gravity acceleration, m/s
