3.8.3 Check and adjustment of the pneumatic system pressure regulator
Adjustment of pressure of the pneumatic system pressure regulator should be carried out
during TM-3, as well as in case of malfunction of the pressure regulator and after dismantling it for
washing or replacing worn out parts.
Check and adjustment of the pneumatic system pressure regulator should be carried out af-
ter the operations of the service brakes control adjustment, adjustment of the parking brake control
and brake valve drive, if it is mounted.
Check the pneumatic system pressure regulator in the following way:
- connect the pressure gage (with the graduation from 0,01 to 0,02 MPa and a scale not
less than 1,6 MPa) to the coupling head;
- remove cap 1 (figure 3.8.3);
- with the help of nut wrench screw cover 2 into the body against the stop;
- turn on the pneumatic compressor;
- start the engine and fill the cylinder with compressed air until safety valve 7 actuates at a
pressure less than 0,85 MPa or more than 1 MPa, carry out its adjustment with the help
of screw 9, after releasing and then tightening locknut 8.
Carry out adjustment of air pressure of the pneumatic system in the following way:
- gradually screwing out cover 2, adjust force of springs 3 and 4 so that the air pressure in the
cylinder, at which pressure relief valve 6 opens, makes from 0,77 to 0,8 MPa;
- fix this position of cover 2 by means of paint, applied to the threaded part of the body, and
put on cap 1;
- slightly open the condensate drainage valve in the cylinder and reduce air pressure to the
value from 0,65 to 0,7 MPa. At these pressure values valve 6 has to close and switch the pneumatic
compressor to fill the cylinder with compressed air;
- detach test pressure gage from the coupling head.
1 – cap; 2 – cover; 3 – outer spring; 4 – inner spring; 5 – filter; 6 – pressure relief valve; 7 – safety
valve; 8 – locknut; 9 – adjusting screw.

Note: Filter 5 (figure 3.8.3) is mounted only on the regulator 80-3512010. There is
no filter on other regulators of the pneumatic system.
