Description
The 1965 Plymouth Models have a self-adjusting
servo contact, two shoe, internal expanding brake. The
lower ends of the brake shoes are connected by a
tubular star wheel adjusting screw (Figs. 1 and 2).
Police vehicles with heavy duty brakes are not self-
adjusting.

(a) Fluid low in reservoir.
(c) Excessively worn brake lining.

Leaking wheel cylinders.
(e) Loose or broken brake lines.
(f)
Air in hydraulic brake system.
(9) Ledking or worn master cylinder.
(a)
Fill
and bleed the master cylinder.
(b) Repair or replace self-adiuster.
(c)
Reline and adjust brakes.
(d)
Recondition or replace the wheel cylinder and
replace both brake shoes.
(e) Tighten all brake fittings or replace the brake
line.
(f) Fill
and bleed the hydraulic brake system.
(9) Recondition or replace the master cylinder and
bleed the hydraulic system.
SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL
(a) Air in hydraulic system.
(b)
Improper brake fluid (low boiling point).
(c) Excessively worn or cracked brake drums.
(d)
Broken pedal pivot bushing.

Broken or weak brake shoe.
(9) Contaminated brake lining.
(h)
Saturated brake lining.
(a) Adjust the brakes and check the fluid.
(b) Replace contaminated lining.
(c) Install correct lining.
(d)
Grind or replace brake drums.
(e) Replace faufiy brake shoes.
(f) Replace the plugged hose or brake line.
(9) Align the front end.
(h) Replace the broken spring.
(a) Blow out brake assembly with compressed air
