SERVICE PROCEDURES
Clutch Adjustment In the Vehicle
The only adjustment required is linkage adjust-
ment to obtain the correct amount of clutch pedal
free play. Clutch pedal free play is the movement of
the pedal required to close the clearance between the
throwout bearing and the clutch fingers. Lhkage ad-
justment is required to restore pedal free play when
it has been reduced by normal wear of the clutch.
(1) Inspect the linkage (Figs. 2, 3 or
4)
for damaged
rubber clutch stop Pad. Replace if necessary. The
Up-
per end of the clutch pedal pivots in the pedal mount-
ing bracket. The nylon pedal bushing
(6
cylinder) and
needle bearings (8 cylinder) require no periodic lub-
rication.
