Remove the rear shackle and bushings from the
spring and hanger.

Installation
Inspect the rear spring front pivot bolt bushing and
if necessary replace using Tool
C-3729.
(1) Attach the front hanger to the front end of
spring and start the pivot bolt nut.
Do
not tighten.
(2)
Assemble the rear shackle and bushings (Figs.
8,
9
or
10)
in the spring rear eye and the rear spring
hanger.
(Do not lubricate the rubber bushings).
Install
the shackle bolt nuts.
Do
not tighten.
(3) Attach the rear spring rear hanger to the body
bracket and tighten the bolts to 30 foot-pounds.
(4)
Attach the rear spring front hanger to the body
bracket and tighten the nuts to 30 foot-pounds.
(5) Remove the rear axle housing support and
llace the center hole of the axle spring seat over the
ead of the spring center bolt.
(6) Place the spring plate under the spring and in-
,tall the "U" bolts and tighten the nuts to
45
foot-
pounds, (AV models)
40
foot-pounds.
(7)
Raise the vehicle and connect the rear shock
absorbers. Tighten the nuts
50
foot-pounds. Remove
the stands and lower the vehicle onto its wheels.
(8)
Jounce the vehicle several times (front bumper
first) and compare the spring heights. (It may be nec-
essary to replace the mating spring to insure the po-
sition of the vehicle).
(9)
Tighten the pivot bushing bolts and/or nuts to
125
foot-pounds (AR and AP models), 60 foot-pounds
(AV models) and the shackle nuts to
40
foot-pounds,
(AV models)
30
foot-pounds with the full weight of
the vehicle on the wheels.
