Remove the front engine mounts.
(5) Cut a piece of wooden 2x4, eight inches long.
(6) Raise the front of the engine just high enough
to insert the piece of 2x4 between the front rail of
the "K" member and the right front lower portion
of the engine oil pan. Position the block, as shown in
Figure 47 so one end is against the edge of the right
front engine mount support where it is welded to the
"K" member.
(7) Lower the front of the engine
so
it rests on the
2x4 block near the right front corner of the oil pan.

Exert a light pressure, with a pry bar, against
the right side of the engine, as shown in Figure
48.
(9) This will cause the 2x4 block and the front of
the engine to slide to the left approximately 1 Y 2
inches, as shown in Figure 49.
(10) This movement will also cause the engine to

tip slightly toward the left.

CAUTION: The outer rotor will drop out when the
pump cover is removed.
Do
not allow the rotor to
be damaged by falling.
(12) If the above instructions have been followed
closely, just enough clearance will be provided be-
tween the engine and the "K" member
to
allow
re-
moval of the oil pump.

(1) Remove the pump cover and seal ring.
(2)
Press off the drive gear. Support the gear to
keep the load
off of
the aluminum
body.
