Evuporutor Removul
(1)
With the heater core removed from the case,
remove the heater core right mounting bracket (metal
screws).
(2) Remove two nuts attaching the evaporator to
the case.
(3) Remove the evaporator to the case metal screw
(upper left side).
(4)
Remove the evaporator inlet, outlet retainer
plate (metal screws) and the sealer.
(5) Remove the evaporator from the case (Fig. 52).

(1) Place the sealer in the case for the evaporator
sealing and position the evaporator in the case, se-
curing with the screw, and two nuts.
(2) Install the sealer and retainer plate and secure
with metal screws.
(3) Install the heater core right mounting bracket
in the case (metal screws).

Removal
(2) Install the assembly with the blower motor be-
neath the instrument panel, securing the mounting
brackets (upper left side and top center of case).
NOTE: Be sure the motor ground wire is attached
to the top center bracket.
(3)
Install the mounting bolt and nuts to studs
through the firewall.
(4)
Install the electrical wires to the resistor block
and relay.
(5) Install the temperature control cable thermo-
stat, the vacuum hose connectors to the push button
switch, the blower switch and the engine vacuum hose.
(6) Install the upper, side cooler tubing and blow-
er motor flexible duct.
(7) Install the radio speaker, grille, glove box as-
sembly, and sound deflector.
(8) Install the drain tubes, seal with plate for heater
tube opening, heater hoses and the vacuum hose to
the water valve.
(9) Use new
"0"
rings with clean refrigerant oil
on all connections. Then install the expansion valve,
equalizer line, inlet line, outlet line and suction line.
(10) Connect the battery cable and install the air
cleaner.
After the evaporator assembly is installed in the
vehicle it will be necessary to sweep the system,
test
for leaks and charge the system with the proper
amount of refrigerant. It is recommended that the
operation of all controls be tested and an overall
performance test be made after repair or replacement
of the evaporator assembly.
Blower-Removal
(1) Disconcect the battery ground cable.
(2) Remove the radio grille and speaker to discon-
nect the motor "hot" wire from the resistor block,
and the ground wire from the case mounting bracket.
(3) Remove the sound deflector cover under the
glove box.
(4)
Remove the glove box assembly and blower mo-
tor duct (rubber).
(5) Remove the blower motor.

(1) Install the wires into the case and out through

box assembly.
(3) Connect the motor "hot" wire to the resistor

Install the radio speaker, grille, and the sound
deflector.
(5) Connect the battery ground cable.

Test the operation of blower motor.
