ELECTRIC ST ARTER
STARTER MOTOR
REMOVAL
• With the ignition switch OFF, remove the nega­
tive cable at the battery before servicing the
starter motor.
Remove the following:
- air cleaner housing (page 5-61)
- thermostat (page 6-8)
Remove the bolts, water hose joint and O-ring.
Open the rubber cap, then remove the terminal nut
and starter motor cable from the starter motor.
Remove the starter motor mounting bolts and
ground cable.
Pull the starter motor out of the crankcase.
Remove the O-ring from the starter motor.
