FUEL SYSTEM (PGM-FI)
3. Oz Sensor Short Circuit Inspection
Connect the 02 sensor 4P (Black) connector.
Check for continuity between the ECM 33P (Light
gray) connector of the wire harness side and
ground.
CONNECTION: B20
TOOL:
Test probe
Is there continuity?
YES
NO
4. 02 Sensor Inspection
Connect the ECM 33P connectors.
Replace the 02 sensor with a known good one
(page 5-100).
Clear the ECM self-diagnosis memory data (page
5-14).
Start the engine and warm the engine up to cool­
ant temperature is 80 •c ( 176 °F).
Test-ride the motorcycle and check the 02 sensor
with the HOS pocket tester.
Is the OTC 21-1 indicated?
YES
NO
DTC 23-1 (02 SENSOR HEATER)
• Before starting the inspection, check for loose or
poor contact on the 02 sensor 4P (Black) connec­
tor and ECM 33P connectors, then recheck the
OTC.
1. Oz Sensor Heater System Inspection
Clear the ECM self-diagnosis memory data (page
5-14).
Start the engine and check the Oz sensor heater
with the HOS pocket tester.
Is the OTC 23-1 indicated?
YES
NO

- Ground

- Short circuit in the Orange/white wire
- GO TO STEP 4.
- Replace the ECM with a known good
one, and recheck; refer to Key Registra­
tion Procedures (page 21-6)
- Faulty original 02 sensor
- GO TO STEP 2.
- Intermittent failure
