OTC 7-1 (ECT SENSOR LOW
VOLTAGE)
• Before starting the inspection. check for loose or
poor contact on the ECT sensor 3P (Black) con­
nector and ECM 33P connectors, then recheck
the OTC.
1. ECT Sensor System Inspection
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
"O".

Check the ECT sensor with the HOS pocket
tester.
Is about O Vindicated?
YES - GO TO STEP 2.
NO - Intermittent failure
2. ECT Sensor Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the ECT sensor 3P (Black) connector.
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop
"O".

Check the ECT sensor with the HOS pocket
tester.
Is about O Vindicated?
YES - GO TO STEP 4.
- GO TO STEP 3.
NO
3. ECT Sensor Resistance Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Measure the resistance at the ECT sensor termi­
nals.
CONNECTION: Pink/white
STANDARD: 2.3 - 2.6
Is the resistance within 2.3 - 2.6 kfl?
YES - Replace the ECM with a new one, and
recheck; refer to Key Registration Proce­
dures (page 21-6)
NO - Faulty ECT sensor.
4. ECT Sensor Short Circuit Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Check for continuity between the ECT sensor 3P
(Black) connector terminal of the wire harness
side and ground.
CONNECTION: Pink/white - Ground
Is there continuity?
YES - Short circuit in Pink/white wire
NO
- Replace the ECM with a known good
one, and recheck; refer to Key Registra­
tion Procedures (page 21-6)
