60. Secure Shell (SSH) Commands

60-1 crypto key generate
This command is used to generate the RSA or DSA key pair.
crypto key generate {rsa [modulus MODULUS-SIZE] | dsa}
Parameters
rsa
dsa
modulus MODULUS-SIZE
Default
None.
Command Mode
Privileged EXEC Mode.
Command Default Level
Level: 15.
Usage Guideline
This command is used to generate the RSA or DSA key pair.
Example
This example shows how to create an RSA key.
Switch# crypto key generate rsa
The RSA key pairs already existed.
Do you really want to replace them? (y/n) [n]y
Choose the size of the key modulus in the range of 360 to 2048.The process may take
a few minutes.
Number of bits in the modulus [768]: 768
Generating RSA key...Done

60-2 crypto key zeroize
This command is used to delete the RSA or DSA key pair.
crypto key zeroize {rsa | dsa}
Parameters
rsa
Specifies to generate the RSA key pair.
Specifies to generate the DSA key pair. The DSA key size is fixed
as 1024 bit.
(Optional) Specifies the number of bits in the modulus. For RSA, the
valid values are 360, 512, 768, 1024, and 2048.If not specified, a
message will be promoted to the user to specify the value.
Specifies to delete the RSA key pair.
