2.15 Gear Changing

2.15.1 General

The BELARUS-921.6 tractor in standard configuration is equipped with the synchro-
mesh fixed-ratio two-range GB with one range and gear changing lever (for the operator's right
hand) and with synchromesh reduction gearbox (GB 14F+4R). The tractor can be optionally
equipped by the transmission with following component units:
- synchromesh GB and synchromesh increasing gearbox (GB 14F+4R);
- synchromesh GB and reverse gear (GB 7F+6R);
- mechanical GB and mechanical reduction gearbox (GB 18F+4R).
2.15.2 Gear Changing in the Transmission with the Synchromesh GB and
Synchromesh Reduction Gearbox.
Controls of the synchromesh GB with the synchromesh reduction gearbox are shown in
Figure 2.15.1.

lever; 3 – GB ranges and gears changing lever; 4 – GB ranges and gears changing diagram.
Figure 2.15.1 – Synchromesh GB with the synchromesh reduction gearbox control
Gears are changed by two levers: GB ranges and gears changing lever 3 (Figure 2.15.1) and
reduction gearbox control lever 2.
Select required ranges, gears and stages of the decreasing gearbox (slow-down stage – "tur-
tle" symbol, accelerating stage – "rabbit" symbol) according to the changing diagrams 4 and 1 as
shown in Figure 2.15.1.
Change ranges and gears by the single lever 3, at that, activate the range (I or II) first,
then move the lever into position N and select required gear.
The decreasing gearbox control lever 2 shall be in activated (fixed) position during the
tractor operation: reverse – accelerating stage (rabbit) or forward – slow-down stage (turtle).
It is allowable to keep the lever of the decreasing gearbox in the neutral (not fixed middle
position) position in order to make the engine starting easier at low temperatures.
