LIGHTING SYSTEM
3. Day Time Running Light System
A: WIRING DIAGRAM
<Ref. to WI-117, WIRING DIAGRAM, Headlight System.>
B: INSPECTION
1. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT MODULE CHECK
(CONTROLLED BY THE BODY INTEGRATED UNIT)
Step
1 CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT.
1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2) Measure the voltage between the body inte-
grated unit terminal and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B281) No. 19 (+) — Chassis ground (–):
2 CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT.
1) Disconnect the body integrated unit connec-
tor.
2) Measure the resistance between the body
integrated unit terminal and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B280) No. 13 — Chassis ground:
3 CHECK THE STARTER SIGNAL.
1) Connect the body integrated unit connector.
2) Turn the ignition switch to ON ⇔ Starter and
measure the voltage of terminal.

(B280) No. 15 (+) — Chassis ground (–):
4 CHECK GENERATOR SIGNAL.
Start the engine and measure the voltage
between the body integrated unit terminal and
chassis ground.

(B280) No. 12 (+) — Chassis ground (–):
5 CHECK THE PARKING SIGNAL.
1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2) Measure the resistance between the body
integrated unit terminal and chassis ground
when the parking brake lever is applied and
when it is released.

(B280) No. 1 (+) — Chassis ground (–):
6 CHECK P RANGE SIGNAL.
1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2) Measure the resistance between the body
integrated unit terminal and chassis ground
when the select lever is set in the P range.
Connector & terminal
(B281) No. 5 — Chassis ground:
7 CHECK HEADLIGHT (LO).
Check that the light turns ON when the head-
light switch is set from OFF ⇔ LO.
8 CHECK HEADLIGHT (HI).
Check that the light turns ON when the head-
light switch is set from OFF ⇔ HI.
Day Time Running Light System
Check
Is the voltage battery voltage? Go to step 2.
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step 3.
Does the voltage change to 0⇔
battery voltage?
Is the voltage above the battery
voltage?
Does the voltage change to 0⇔
battery voltage?
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step 7.
Does the headlight (LO) light
properly?
Does the headlight (HI) light
properly?

Check the fuse and
the ignition circuit.
Check the ground
circuit.
Go to step 4. Check the starter
switch circuit.
Go to step 5.
Check the genera-
tor L terminal cir-
cuit.
Go to step 6. Check the parking
brake switch cir-
cuit.
Check the inhibitor
switch circuit.
