SEAT BELT SYSTEM
4. Seat Belt Warning System
A: WIRING DIAGRAM
<Ref. to WI-114, WIRING DIAGRAM, Seat Belt Warning System.>
B: INSPECTION
TROUBLE SYMPTOM:
• Seat belt warning light does illuminate or it remains illuminating.
• Buzzer does not beep.
Step
1 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN BODY INTE-
GRATED UNIT AND CHASSIS GROUND.
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Disconnect the connector from body inte-
grated unit.
3) Measure the resistance between body inte-
grated unit harness connector and chassis
ground.
Connector & terminal
(B280) No. 13 — Chassis ground:
2 CHECK POWER SUPPLY OF BODY INTE-
GRATED UNIT.
1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2) Measure the voltage between body inte-
grated unit connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B281) No. 19 (+) — Chassis ground (–):
3 CHECK SEAT BELT SWITCH AND HAR-
NESS.
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Disconnect the connector from body inte-
grated unit.
3) Pull out the tongue plate from the driver's
seat belt buckle.
4) Measure the resistance between body inte-
grated unit harness connector and chassis
ground.
Connector & terminal
(B281) No. 3 — Chassis ground:
4 CHECK SEAT BELT SWITCH AND HAR-
NESS.
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Insert the tongue plate to the driver's seat
belt buckle.
3) Measure the resistance between body inte-
grated unit connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B281) No. 3 — Chassis ground:
5 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN BODY INTE-
GRATED UNIT AND SEAT BELT SWITCH.
Measure the resistance of harness between the
body integrated unit connector and seat belt
switch.
Connector & terminal
(B281) No. 3 — (R245) No. 2:
Seat Belt Warning System
Check
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step 2.
Is the voltage 10 V or more?
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step 4.
Is the resistance 1 MΩ or
more?
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step 6.

Repair the open
circuit of harness
between the body
integrated unit and
chassis ground.
Go to step 3. Repair the open or
short circuit of the
harness between
body integrated
unit and battery,
and any poor con-
tact in connectors.
Repair the short
circuit of the har-
ness between the
body integrated
unit connector and
chassis ground.
Go to step 7. Go to step 5.
Repair the open
circuit of the har-
ness between
body integrated
unit connector and
battery, and any
poor contact in
connectors.
