Chapter 10. ODU (TRANSCEIVER,
BUC, LNB) M&C OPERATIONS

10.1 Overview

Unless otherwise specified, this chapter uses "CDM-570A/570AL" to refer to the
CDM-570A (70/140 MHz) and CDM-570AL or CDMR-570AL (L-Band) Satellite
Modems.
The CDM-570A/570AL Satellite Modem permits configuration, monitoring, and control of
Comtech EF Data Outdoor Units (ODUs) either in standalone or 1:1 redundant configuration.
These ODUs are compatible under CDM-570A (70/140 MHz) operation:

CSAT-5060 series (5 to 25, 50 & 100 Watts) C-Band Transceivers

KST-2000A (LNA) Ku-Band Satellite Transceiver

KST-2000B (LNB) Ku-Band Satellite Transceiver
These ODUs are compatible under CDM/R-570AL (L-Band) operation:

Comtech EF Data Block Up Converter (BUC) products

Comtech EF Data Low-Noise Block Down Converter (LNB) products
You can fully monitor and control ODU operations as follows:

By using the CDM-570A/570AL front panel keypad and VFD. The Front Panel ODU menu
branch allows you to configure power supplies, a 10 MHz reference, and low/high current
alarm thresholds for the CDM/R-570AL BUC and LNB M&C. LO (Local Oscillator) menus
allow you to set up the upconversion and downconversion settings for the BUC and LNB so
that you can view the satellite frequencies as well as the modem IF input/output frequencies.

By using the CDM-570A HTTP (Web Server) Interface.

By using the SNMP Interface with the CDM-570A CSAT-5060 or KST-2000A/B Transceiver
MIB, or the CDM/R-570AL BUC or LNB MIB.

By using Serial-based Remote Product Management to issue ODU remote commands
and queries.
