VLAN Brouter (with optional Packet Processor INSTALLED)
VLAN Brouter mode operation is special mode of operation where VLAN traffic is bridged and
non-VLAN traffic in routed using static route table information.
When Brouter mode is used in a hub-spoke network, the remote routers receives the whole
outbound traffic transmitted by the hub. Since VLAN traffic is transmitted to the remote routers
using a broadcast HDLC address, the receiver FPGA in the remote CDM-570A/570ALs will
forward all the traffic to the CPU. In addition to the hub receiving traffic the remote routers shall
also forward the return link (remote to hub) traffic.
•
Typical for VLAN Brouter Mode, VLAN Brouter Tx Payload Compression, VLAN
Remote Mode, and VLAN Filtering – Use the drop-down lists to Enable or Disable
