D.1.2.8 Advanced Quality of Service (QoS)
Appendix L. ADVANCED QUALITY OF SERVICE (QoS)
Advanced QoS is an optional feature of the Packet Processor. Advanced QoS enables a network
to use WAN bandwidth more efficiently by managing delay, jitter (delay variation), throughput,
and packet loss. It is based on OSI model to Layer 7 protocol header parameters. Advanced
QoS requires that the optional Packet Processor is installed and active, and requires that you
purchase and activate the Advanced QoS FAST Option. Contact Comtech EF Data Product
Support for further information.
The CDM-570A/570AL-IP incorporates four Per Hop Behavior (PHP) QoS modes of operation:
Max/Pri Mode – QoS Rules based on Maximum Bandwidth and Priority.
This mode provides multi-level traffic prioritization with the ability to limit maximum traffic
per priority class.
Min/Max Mode – QoS Rules based on Minimum and Maximum Bandwidth.
This mode provides a Committed Information Rate (CIR) to each user-defined class of
traffic with the ability to allow a higher burstable rate depending on availability
DiffServ Mode – Differentiated Services.
This mode incorporates the industry-standard method of providing QoS, enabling
seamless co-existence in networks that implement DiffServ.
VLAN Priority Max Mode – VLAN 802.1q
When using rule-based QoS, you can configure up to 32 different rules based on:
Source IP address and subnet mask;
Source Port;
Protocols (well known);
Destination IP address and subnet mask;
Destination Port;
Priority.

D.1.2.10 3xDES Encryption with Ability to Change Keys
Future releases of the Packet Processor will optionally support 3xDES-128 (using NIST certified
3x core) encryption and decryption, for the highest level security for link encryption.
