• Required input values are in angle brackets <>; for example,
specify an IP address for this command.
• In some commands you specify slots or interfaces by the Access ID <aid>, use "?" to show which
types of interfaces you can specify. For example, you might be able to use: slot-<slot> |
<ge|msc>-<slot>-<port> | <ge|msc>-<slot>-<port>&&-<port>.
• Use "msc-<slot>-<port>" for an uplink slot on the management switch card.
• Use "ge-<slot>-<port>" for a Gigabit Ethernet port or switch settings on a PON interface.
• Use "pon-<slot>-<port>" to configure PON interface settings.
• A "slot" is a chassis slot.
• The "port" is 1-N where N is the number of ports on the card.
• Use && to specify a range of ports.
• Optional fields are in square brackets []; for instance msc update-target [standby|all], the
standby or all field is optional.
The following is an example of required input within an optional field: snmp-server [contact
<system-contact>][location <system-location>], the contact and location fields are
optional. However, if you use contact, then you must provide the system contact information and
if you use location, then you must provide the system location information.
• The | (bar) symbol means "or".
• italic terms represent user-defined input values; for example, in snmp-server [contact <system
contact>], system contact can be replaced by the administrator's name.
• A key stroke is denoted by square brackets and uppercase text, for example, [ENTER] means the
"Enter" or "Return" key on your keyboard.
• <cr> means press the [ENTER] key.
• An arrow (-->) indicates that this line is a continuation of the previous line.
• A dashed line (------------------------------------------------------------------) indicates omission of contents for
brevity.

51.7 Dual Image Files

The management switching card supports dual firmware images. By default, the management
switching card uses firmware ras-0 while the second firmware file is named ras-1. This allows immediate
rollback on system boot up in case of a corrupt firmware image.
Use the show version [flash] command to display the version of the running firmware on the active
management switching card. Optionally, display the version of the currently installed firmware on the
flash memory.
Use the show msc command to display the versions of the running firmware on the active and standby
management switching cards.
Use boot image <1|2> to have the (active) management switching card update (1) the ras image or
(2) the ras-1 image when you upload firmware.
