8.4 Commissioning with the STARTER commissioning tool

Connection through a serial interface

Along with the connection through the PROFIBUS, there is also a facility for data exchange

via a serial interface on the mainboard of the computer.

Note: The serial connection does not function with USB to serial converters.

Requirements

● A serial interface (COM) must be available on the PC from which the connection will be

● An AOP30 must not be connected with the drive.

Connecting cables

1. Preparations on the device:

Make the following settings via the BOP20:

DO1.p0003 = 3

DO1.p2030 = 3

DO1.p2011 = 3 (left CUD) or

DO1.p2011 = 5 (right CUD)

The perform "Save parameters" and switch the electronic power supply OFF and ON

again so that the settings can take effect.

2. In STARTER, from Project > Set PG/PC interface, select the Serial cable (PPI) interface.

If this is not available in the drop-down list, you first have to add it using Select.

If the interface cannot be added to the selection menu , the drive for the serial interface

still needs to be installed.

This is located in the following path on the STARTER CD:

\installation\starter\starter\Disk1\SerialCable_PPI\

STARTER must not be active while the driver is being installed.
