While preparing the tractor for long-term storage it is necessary to perform internal and
external preservation of the engine according to the engine operation manual. Lubricate all trac-
tor units according to item 3 in Table 5.8.1 of this manual. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank. Drain
the oil and fill by new oil (while adding the additive to required quantity of oil) up to reference
level in housings of transmission, final reduction gears, hydraulic system of RMD, HPS. Run in
the tractor for 10 to 15 minutes. Place the accumulator batteries into long-term storage after per-
forming the checking and charging-discharging cycle according to GOST 9590-76. Opened
joints, screwed and threaded connections of the mounted mechanism, steering control, splined
surfaces of the PTO shaft shanks and cardan shafts, extending parts of the cylinder and shock-
absorbers, mechanisms for the front and rear wheels spacing adjustment shall be preserved.
The fuel tank filling neck, openings in the engine breathers, transmission, hydraulic systems, the
engine exhaust pipe, the air cleaner intake pipe, corresponding openings after the starter re-
moval and other cavities, through which atmospheric precipitations can get into the tractor as-
semblies and component pars inner cavities shall be tightly closed by covers, polyethylene film
bags or other special-purpose appliances. Place the control pedals and levers into position,
where the tractor units and assemblies will be not activated spontaneously.
It is allowed to store pneumatic tyres outdoors in unloaded condition on the tractors,
which are installed onto props. Tyres surface shall be covered by protective compound. Pres-
sure in tyres during storage indoors and outdoors shall be decreased to 70% of normal value.
Clean outer surfaces of the hydraulic system flexible hoses from dirt and oil. It is allowed to
store hoses on the machine. At that, they shall be covered by protective compound or
wrapped by insulating material (paraffin-waxed paper, polyethylene film etc.).
Bonnet, roof, doors and windshields of the cab shall be closed.
During cold season and long-term storage it is necessary to regularly lubricate the lock
barrel, which installed in the button 2 (Figure 2.23.1) of the door handle lock by injection of
agents HG 5503 (HG5501, WD-40).
While performing the machines maintenance during storage it is necessary to check
correctness of the machines installation on props or support bars (absence of distortions),
completeness, air pressure in tyres, reliability of air-tightness, condition of rust prevention
coatings (presence of protecting lubricant, painting integrity, corrosion absence), condition
of protective devices (integrity and reliability of jackets and covers fastening). Discovered
defects shall be remedied.
The tractor maintenance while removing from storage involves the tractor removal
from props, cleaning and if necessary depreservation of the tractor and its component
parts, mounting the removed component parts and tools onto the tractor, inspection and
adjustment of the tractor and its component parts operation, including the tractor according
to the engine operation manual.

7.5 Preservation

Temporary corrosion protection of the tractor units and systems from environment
effects during the tractor transportation and storage is provided by preservation.
The engine and its systems preservation rules are set forth in the engine operation
manual.
Other surfaces of the tractor to be preserved (except for the engine) shall be cleaned
from mechanical impurities, degreased and dried. Non-painted inner and outer surfaces with
zinc coating, uncovered units of the tractor and in the cab are preserved by the corrosion pro-
tection oil RUST BAN 397. SUMIDERA 397.
Extending parts of the hydraulic cylinders and shock absorbers rods shall be cov-
ered by protective lubricant according to GOST 4366-76.
Air-tightness of units (radiator and fuel tank filling necks, breathers) shall be provided
using jackets made of polyethylene film.
Employed materials do provide for the tractor and its units protection for storage
and transportation duration of one year.
External preservation of the tractor and its units is performed by lubrication of sur-
faces by brush and by spraying onto surfaces by the paint spray gun. Internal preservation
of the tractor is performed by filling the inner cavities with preservation mixture with subse-
quent engine running in.
