4.12 Determining the Total Mass, Loads onto Front and Rear Axis, Tyres Ca-
pacity and Required Minimum Ballast Weight
Values of the loads onto the tractor axis, which is part of the MTA, can be deter-
mined by immediate weighting on the scales for automotive mechanical means of suffi-
cient capacity.
Weighting the tractor on scales will provide for possibility to take into account cor-
rectly the value of MTA masses distribution among the tractor of your configuration for var-
ious operation conditions: "main operation", "transportation". While determining the loads
onto the tractor axis, it is necessary to take into account mass of the temporary weight, for
example weight of seeds for the planter.
To determine loads on the tractor front or rear axis by weighting on scales, it is nec-
essary to place the tractor with wheels of measured axis on the scale platform and with
wheels of another axis on outside of the weighting area on the same level with the plat-
form.
Following equation is used to determine load value:
, where:
- Т – load, N;
- M – mass, kg
- g=9.8 – free fall acceleration, m/s
Calculation of load onto the tractor front axis:
, where:
- Т
– load onto the tractor front axis, N;
f
-
– the tractor operational weight with ballast weight (installed unit), distributed
onto the tractor front axis, kg;
- g=9.8 – free fall acceleration, m/s
Calculation of load onto the tractor rear axis:
, where:
Т
– load onto the tractor rear axis, N;
z
– the tractor operational weight with installed unit (ballast weight), distributed
onto the tractor rear axis, kg.
- g=9.8 – free fall acceleration, m/s
