5.4.3.4 Operation 41. Check / adjustment of service brake control

5.4.3.4.1 Check/adjustment of dry friction service brake control

ATTENTION: IT IS REQUIRED TO CHECK AND ADJUST THE BRAKE SYSTEM AS
WELL AS ELIMINATE ANY FAILURES IN IT ONLY WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND THE
TRACTOR BEING FIXED IN THE HORIZONTAL POSITION BY MEANS OF STOPS UNDER
THE WHEELS WHICH EXCLUDE THE TRACTOR SPONTANEOUS MOVEMENT! ONLY
DEALERS ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND ELIM-
INATE ANY FAILURES!
1, 2 – main brake cylinder; 3 – yoke; 4 – nut; 5 – adjustable stop bolt; 6 – pin; 7 – counter
nut; 8, 9 – pedal; 10 – pipeline connecting two main brake cylinders.
Figure 5.4.23 – Adjustment of pedal free travel of service brake control
Adjustment of the tractor service brake control shall be performed in the following order:
1. Set cradles of pedals 8 and 9 (Figure 5.4.23) in the same plane by means of adjusta-
ble stop bolts 5 by screwing them to the depth of (203) mm. Lock nuts 4.
2. Check the pedals free travel. Free travel of pedals 8, 9 shall be within 4 to 8 mm. If this
condition is not observed, adjust the pedals free travel doing the following operations:
- unsplint and remove pins 6 and disconnect yokes 3 from pedals 8 and 9 rods;
- unscrew counter nuts 7 by several resolutions, then by screwing or unscrewing yokes 3
shorten or lengthen the rods of main brake cylinders 1 and 2 to get the required pedal free
movement;
- lock nuts 7, mount pins 6 and splint them. Free travel of pedals within 4 to 8 mm corre-
sponds to the clearance from 0,6 to 1,3mm between the pusher and the piston of each main
brake cylinder;
- the pedals shall not contact the cab elements. The arrangement of pedal cradles ac-
cording to the height shall be adjusted by means of bolts 5 and the length of main brake cylinder
rods if necessary, ensuring the pedal free travel from 4 to 8 mm.
3. Check the length of operating brake cylinders 1 and 14 (Figure 5.4.24). The operating
cylinder length shall be (2301) mm measured from the cylinder attaching point to the axis of
the pin which connects levers 5 and 9 with yokes 3 and 12 correspondingly, with the operating
brake cylinder rod pushed inside to the extreme position, as shown in Figure 5.4.24. In case this
condition is not observed, bring the length of operating brake cylinders 1 and 14 to the size of
(2301) mm.
Setting the length of the operating brake cylinders shall be performed by means of yokes
3 and 12, bolts-links 6 and 10, doing the following operations:
unscrew counter nuts 2 and 13 by several resolutions;
unsplint and remove pins 4 and 11 after disconnecting yokes 3 and 12 from levers 5 and
9 of the right and left operating cylinders correspondingly;
by screwing and unscrewing yokes 3 and 12 from the rods of operating brake cylinders 1
and 14, set the size (230 1) mm;
lock counter nuts 2 and 13, set and splint pins 4 and 11.
