Function writes into the internal IOPort buffer the current state (DIGITAL IN0 ... DIGITAL IN15) of
the EXTENSION 1 connector's 16-bit digital input. At the same time, the current XY set
positions and (relative) time in seconds are stored.

• The IOPort buffer holds 16 entries and is circularly organized. It always stores the 16
most recent entries and overwrites older entries without warning. The incremental
Index starts after a reset (program start) at Index 0, and after passing 15 will rollover to
0.

program start (load_program_file) or via time_update.
