• Do not operate the RTC
PC.

• The RTC 5 board is intended only for industrial
usage. It is designed to be incorporated in
machines (normally laser systems). It does not
meet all criteria of ready-to-use products. Do
®
not operate the RTC 5 board unless it is incor-
porated in a machine which itself complies with
the regulations of all applicable standards and
directives (of the country concerned). It is not
suitable to be used as toy, in household or under
unfavourable environment conditions (e.g. in
the open). Appropriate precautions to avoid
such unforeseeable misapplications must be
taken by the user.
• Installation and operation must only be
performed by trained specialists, among other
things knowledgeable in the safe and proper
use of electrical devices. Only carry out instal-
lation and maintenance work when supply
voltages and lasers have been switched off.

• The RTC 5 board is a class A product. In a
domestic environment this product may cause
radio interferences in which case the user may
be required to take adequate measures.

2.2 System Requirements

2.2.1 Hardware

®
The RTC 5 requires an IBM-compatible personal
computer with a PCI bus interface and at least one
free PCI slot. The dimensions of the RTC
shown in figure 2 on page
®
RTC 5 boards intended for synchronized
master/slave operation must be installed in adjacent
PCI slots.

2.2.2 Software

®
The RTC 5 board is delivered with a software
package including software drivers and DLL files for
Microsoft WINDOWS operating systems. The RTC
software drivers support the RTC
capability and simultaneously drive any number of

RTC 5 boards. The RTC 5 DLL files contain the
functions which can be called via RTC
®
• RTC 5 software drivers and RTC
®
included in RTC 5 software packages of version
2013_02_21 and higher (DLL version DLL 535 or
higher) are designed for Microsoft's 32-bit as well
as 64-bit operating systems WINDOWS 8,
WINDOWS 7, WINDOWS Vista and WINDOWS XP
(SP2 or higher). The RTC
packages do not support Microsoft's operating
systems WINDOWS 2000 and WINDOWS XP (SP1
or lower).

• Version 2013_02_21 and higher of the RTC
software package contains new drivers (WDF
driver version 6.1.7600.16385), whereas older
®
RTC 5 software packages contain WDM drivers
of version 1.0.4.0 or 2.0.6.0.
®
• Older RTC 5 DLL files (version DLL 533 and
lower) are not compatible with the new WDF
drivers.
®
• In contrast, newer RTC
DLL 535 or higher) are compatible with older
WDM drivers.
