DIAGNOSTIC
CHECKING THE ACCELERATOR CABLE KICK-DOWN
SWITCH.
The kickdown switch is located on the accelerator
cable on the engine side of the firewall connector.
• Disconnect the leads from the kickdown switch
and connect an ohmmeter.
• Depress the accelerator pedal completely. The
resistance should be approximately 0 ohms. If
not, adjust the cable at the stop clip on top of
the valve cover.
• Retest and check to make sure cable returns
properly to the idling stop.
