TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE PROCEDURE
Draining
Fluid should be drained while hot.
Procedure:
- take out the dipstick
- unscrew the drain plug
- allow the fluid to drain for as long as possible.
- refit the plug, using a new seal.
Refilling
The transmission is refilled through the dipstick
tube.
Use a funnel equipped with a strainer to avoid dirt
entering the reservoir.,
After draining out the old fluid refill using Mobil
ATF 220 (Dexron® II Type) or equivalent.
Checking the Fluid Level after Refill
Park the vehicle on a level surface.
Place the selector lever in the "Park" (P) position.
Start the engine and wait for one or two minutes
to allow the torque converter and cooler to fill
with fluid.
Move the shifter through the entire shift selection
range.
CAUTION
Be careful to keep service brake and parking brake
applied throughout shift selection range.
