THERMO· TIME COOLANT SWITCH TESTS
FIRST TEST PROCEDURE
WARNING
Do not loosen the coolant switch with the system
hot and pressurized because serious burns from
coolant can result.
Remove the thermo-time
coolant switch from the
cylinder head and replace it with a plug to prevent
loss of coolant.
Cool the thermo-time coolant switch by immersing it
in cold water.
• connect the switch connector pin W to either of
the test lamp wires
• connect the other test lamp wire to the positive
(+)
terminal of the battery
• connect a wire from the negative (-) terminal of
the battery to the body of the thermo-time
coolant switch

The_lamp should light.
Place the thermo-time
coolant
switch (L) in a
container
of water
and heat the water
while
monitoring its temperature.
The lamp should go out between 30° and 40°C (86°
and 104°F).
The nominal values of the thermo-time
coolant
switch are marked on the six sides of the body.
For example: 35°C/8s (8 secl35°C).
